One year

One year seems like a long time when it’s ahead of you. One year away from your loved ones can feel like forever. Looking back though, one year flies by in the blink of an eye. All the things you meant to do, the places you were to go, the people you wanted to meet… That’s what happened to me. And i don’t mean the celebratory new years eve-realization. I mean that today, it has been one year since i last posted a blog entry. I started this blog last march, full of motivation, intention and ideas. I had the goal to write one post a week. Guess what happened? Life.

I wanted to post again during this last year, cause a lot happened and it was not an intentional break, but writing my diploma thesis took up all my writing zest. So what did happen? In a nutshell:

I started to teach yoga. I became an aunt (first time!). I turned 25. I met amazing people and teachers. I graduated from university with honours. I got a new job. And a whole new world of: “What do I want to do with this life?”-questions arose. I thought I had enough of them already.

And I could write a post on each of these happenings but not today. One step at a time. Today I want to write about the future of this blog. As you might have noticed, I changed the domain from samadhiandscience.wordpress.com to samadhiandme.com. So my primary intention was to focus on the science of and around yoga, inspired by this great yoga and meditation lecture. But since the lecture ended (one year ago), i will shift the focus more towards personal experiences on my daily path to samadhi. This doesn’t mean that there won’t be scientific stuff anymore, quite the contrary. I intend to add more reviews of yoga books and articles. But I realized the scientific interest for yoga is part of me. So the new domain doesn’t only give me a fresh start but also a wider range to write about.

So where are we going from here? Since I am working about 40 hours a week now while keeping up a daily yoga-practice, a relationship and a household, I won’t make any resolutions I can’t keep. My goal for this blog is to write a maximum of a post per week and a minimum of a post per month. As it happens, my next post will be about discipline, keeping up a practice, adopting new habits and all the pitfalls and rewards around it from my most recent experiences.

Here’s to fresh starts and second chances.

Thanks for reading.
